U Day -7 and counting

When I went to Uganda in 2008 I didn't realise the people and places would tug so hard at my heart that 4 years later I'd be heading back for my third trip.  Once again I'm in a combined state of excitement and panic - can't wait to get there but wish I could miss out the packing and hours of travelling.

Bag 1 is packed and comes in under the weight allowance - contents include:
  • Scratch art activities
  • Disposable gloves
  • Bubble making wand
  • Stick blender
  • Shirts and T-shirts (not for me)
  • Chilli powder
  • Pencils, sharpeners & rubbers
  • A pillow
Only a week left now to finish the preparations and make sure I've got everything on the shopping list - in between working full time.

Husband has already been there for 3 weeks and the stories of bug and small mammal invasions are making me think about packing walking boots and a fly swatter.  Descriptions of weird meals have led to the packing of an emergency jar of peanut butter.  The habit he's developed of giving any meat/fish he consumes a name is a matter of combined amusement and mild concern - is he just bored? is it a psychotic reaction to the anti-malarials? will it stop when I get there?
